MCDONALD’S Big Mac is an American classic loved by most, but depending on where you order it, you might find yourself paying a surprising premium.
A study revealed that Massachusetts holds the title for the priciest Big Mac in the country, and the price difference is shocking diners.

When it comes to fast food, McDonald’s reigns supreme as one of America’s favorites.
Data collected by CashNetUSA shows that the average price for a Big Mac in Massachusetts has climbed to a hefty $6.72.
That’s a huge 30.5% jump compared to Texas, where the same burger will set you back just $4.67 on average.
The study gathered pricing information from three McDonald’s restaurants located near the center of the three most populated cities in each state.
In Massachusetts, that meant checking out menu boards in Boston, Worcester, and Springfield.
As a result, it was clear that the Bay State is leading the nation in Big Mac prices.
According to the same report, New Hampshire averages $6.50 for a Big Mac, while Maine lands at $6.41.
Vermont, Rhode Island, and Connecticut round out the region with prices ranging from $5.90 to $6.46.
CUSTOMER FEEDBACK
The findings have sparked frustration online, with social media users questioning how a $3 price gap can exist for the exact same sandwich, just in different states.
In a post on Facebook, customers shared their thoughts.
One person expressed, “Massachusetts is a mess!”
While a second comment read, “As per anything in Massachusetts.”
FAST FOOD NEWS
But while Massachusetts might top the charts for a single Big Mac, the state surprisingly fares better when it comes to meal affordability.
The study compared the cost of a large Big Mac meal against each state’s average hourly wage.
This revealed that Massachusetts ranks as the third ‘most affordable’ place to grab a meal overall.
A large Big Mac meal in the state costs around $11.92, which accounts for 40.9% of the average hourly wage, lower than many might expect.
For contrast, Arkansas ranked worst in this affordability metric, with a Big Mac meal costing a steep 55.1% of the average hourly wage.
Springfield proved to be the second ‘least affordable’ city for a Big Mac meal based on a percentage of the median hourly wage at 52.4%.
