The NFL star officially joined the iconic franchise on the first day of free agency on Wednesday.

The six-time Pro Bowl cornerback Darius Slay signed a one-year, fully guaranteed $10 million contract with the Steelers.
The 34-year-old was available after the Eagles released him with a post-June 1 designation to create $4.3 million in cap space.
Slay played the past five seasons with Philadelphia after beginning his career with the Detroit Lions, where he made the Pro Bowl three times.
He was the Eagles’ captain for several years and appeared in 14 games last season, posting 49 tackles, 13 passes defended, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.
Slay was also a three-time Pro Bowler for Philly and helped the franchise win the Super Bowl over the Kansas City Chiefs last month.
The new Steelers’ cornerback will be paired with 2023 second-round pick Joey Porter Jr.
Pittsburgh has tended to pick up a veteran cornerback to pair with Porter Jr.
Last year, they traded for Donte Jackson and signed Patrick Peterson in 2023.
Each player spent just one season with the black and gold.
Slay wasn’t the only Eagles’ Super Bowl defensive star contributor to leave the squad recently.
Philadelphia lost Milton Williams, Josh Sweat, and Isaiah Rodgers in free agency and traded away C.J. Gardner-Johnson.
Those moves, including the decision to cut Slay, helped the Eagles sign extensions with star running back Saquon Barkley, linebacker Zach Baun, and pass rusher Josh Uche.
And Slay wasn’t the only 2024-25 Super Bowl champion to sign with the Steelers.
Running back Kenneth Gainwell signed a one-year deal with the Western Pennsylvania squad, per NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

Gainwell spent the past four seasons with the Eagles.
He recorded 1,906 total yards and 13 touchdowns.
The Steelers are coming off a 10-7 season in which they made the playoffs.
However, they lost to the Baltimore Ravens in the first round of the postseason.
Pittsburgh has lost its last five playoff games.
