Alex Jones was joined by guest presenter Amol Rajan on Thursday’s The One Show.

Viewers were treated to Andrew Scott and Jimmy Carr in the studio discussing upcoming projects.

Comedian and presenter Jimmy spoke about filming his latest stand up tour for DVD.

Those watching were surprised to learn about a surprise connection between Jimmy and Strictly Come Dancing.

Amor began by questioning Jimmy on the filming style he used for the DVD.

“This is filmed in quite an unusual way for a stand-up,” he remarked.

Jimmy told the studio that he often gets bored watching standup DVDs and so wanted to do something a little different with his latest tour.

Explaining the usual way comedy tours are filmed, he said: “It’s three shots, they sort of do a mid-shot, close-up, wide, and they just rotate those three.”

The comedian told the studio that he wanted his DVD to be “visually good” and confessed to using a surprising tactic to achieve this.

‘I stole from the BBC, I got the steady-cam operator from Strictly to fly to Dublin,” Jimmy revealed.

Presenter Alex wasted no time in complimenting the cameraman and called him the “best in the business”.

Jimmy agreed and added: “He is unbelievable, he is literally the best in the business.”

The comedian then explained how the Strictly cameraman achieved the great footage.

“When I was doing the gig he was walking round me on stage. It looks cool,” remarked Jimmy.

Fellow guest Andrew was not convinced and asked Jimmy whether filming that way was distracting.

“For the audience, yes, for me it’s my day job its fine,” joked Jimmy.

In other Strictly news, judge Craig Revel Horwood has hit back at claims that Dame Darcey Bussell quit the BBC show due to a row over pay.

Craig admitted he was shocked at Darcey’s departure but ultimately believed she made the right decision.

He also made a swipe at those who paid tribute to her on social media instead of sending her a private message like he did.

The One Show airs weeknights at 7pm on BBC One.
