Strictly Come Dancing 2019: 'It's beneath my dignity' Star drops bombshell over signing up

Hugh Grant, 58, has wowed audiences young and old in some of the biggest blockbusters of recent times and now the actor is eyeing up a slot on Strictly Come Dancing.

One of Hugh’s most infamous scenes from his role as Prime Minister in Love Actually saw the actor grace the floors of 10 Downing Street with his dance moves.

The Hollywood star isn’t professionally trained though, meaning it wouldn’t be necessarily that unlikely he could sign up to the BBC dance show.

Hugh has unfortunately admitted signing up would be “beneath” his “dignity” despite having a desire to take part in a future line-up.

Speaking with Deadline, Hugh admitted: “Secretly, I’d kind of like to be on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.”

The Hollywood star joked: “It’d be beneath my dignity, obviously, but I would, really.

“I’ve developed rather a taste for dancing. I had to dance in ‘Paddington 2’, and in ‘Love Actually’ and other things, and it’s lovely.

“It’s a simple form of entertainment and there’s not enough of it,” the award-winning actor revealed, going on to say he would also like to appear in a musical.

Will producers be eyeing up Hugh to be a part of future line-ups on the show?

As the thought of who could take part in next year’s instalment graces fans’ minds, a winner is already emerging from this year’s line-up before the show has even begun.

Alex is currently at 5-1 to win the Glitterball trophy in odds from Coral bookmakers, with former Coronation Street star Catherine Tyldesley, 35, just off the mark at 6-1.

Coral spokesperson Harry Aitkenhead said: “Alex and Catherine are going to be the two early pacesetters we think and according to our odds they have the best chance of lifting the Glitterball Trophy.”

As fans of the show predict who could become champion, they won’t have to wait long until proceedings start as it was revealed earlier today Strictly will return in just over two weeks time.
