Stranger hurls anti-LGBTQ remarks, punches straphanger in Manhattan subway station



A subway rider was punched by a stranger who hurled anti-LGBTQ remarks at him at a Manhattan subway station.

The 29-year-old victim told police he was waiting on the platform for a northbound A train at the 59th St. – Columbus Circle station  when the other man approached him around 4:45 p.m., cops said.

The man then shouted the hateful remarks before punching the victim and running away, they said.

Medics took the victim to Columbia University Irving Medical Center for treatment, cops said.

Police released surveillance images of the suspect recorded in the subway station.

The attack is being investigated by the NYPD’s Hate Crimes Taskforce, they said.

Anyone with information that could lead to the suspect’s arrest is asked to call the NYPD’s Crimestoppers Hotline at (800) 577-8477.
