The final movie in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, and the Skywalker saga as a whole, is due in cinemas in December.
The title of it has still not been unveiled, but with Star Wars Celebration’s Episode 9 panel scheduled to take place later today, could that finally be when we get some answers?
It seems we will – and as numerous title rumours do the rounds online, Variety reporter Justin Kroll appears to have dropped a massive hint on what it could include.
Responding to a post on Twitter about the panel, he said: “I really HOPE they reveal the title.”
When a podcaster replied saying he wants a trailer and a title reveal, Kroll added: “I just HOPE both happen for you and @RobbieBarstool [colleague].”
Needless to say, this has been taken as a big sign that the word “Hope” appears somewhere in the title.
Sure enough, multiple rumours over recent months have included the word, not least because the first ever Star Wars movie back in 1977 was titled A New Hope.
Spark Of Hope has been touted as one possibility, for example: it was in The Last Jedi’s title crawl, much like The Last Jedi was in The Force Awakens’ title crawl.
The Last Hope is also among the previously-speculated-on names for the film, giving a symbolic bookend feel to the whole saga.
Earlier this week, Will Of The Force became the latest title to emerge, though its legitimacy was heavily doubted by fans on Reddit.
Skywalkers was also touted as a rumoured moniker, but this was also met with widespread skepticism.
Whatever the case, the hour-long Episode 9 panel kicks off at 11am local time in Chicago.
For fans in the UK, that’s a 5pm start time – and it can be livestreamed online via the official Star Wars YouTube channel.
Cast members and writer-director JJ Abrams are expected to be in attendance to introduce the film and speak about its contents in public for the first time.
Whether or not we’ll also get a teaser trailer remains to be seen, but whatever the case, there’s no doubt that the publicity rollout for one of the biggest movies of 2019 is about to begin.
Star Wars 9 is out on December 19.
