Stale doughnuts taste fresh again with ‘game-changing’ hack using one ingredient

Doughnuts, although beloved for their sweet and indulgent flavour, don’t tend to stay fresh for long.

However, TikTok user ayni_home has introduced a method to extend their freshness that only uses one ingredient.

In her video, Ayni demonstrates that adding a bit of water to a pan and heating the doughnuts can make them taste fresh again.

She re-rolls the doughnuts in sugar and tastes them, saying: “They look fresh again. I’ve got a good feeling about this.”

The content creator exclaims: “That works. Oh my God – they taste fresh. Don’t throw your stale doughnuts away guys. You have to try this. Honestly, it works.”

The video has garnered thousands of likes, with viewers excited to test out the hack themselves.

One viewer said: “I want some stale doughnuts to try it,” while another typed: “Oh wow, have some in the cupboard as we speak.”

Another social media user shared: “I got some today, which won’t be eaten, so will definitely do this.” A fourth person echoed: “You have made me want a doughnut now Ayni. They look so delicious.”

Earlier this year, psychologist Jo Hemmings revealed what your favourite doughnut says about you – with those who prefer a custard-filled treat usually a little reserved or guarded at first, but with one of the kindest hearts of any of the personality types.

And people who want their doughnuts covered in sprinkles are young at heart, and generous with their spirit, time, and money.

Research by Compare the Market, of 2,000 doughnut eaters, found a classic, jam-filled doughnut was the most popular choice, selected by over half of those polled (51 percent).

This was followed by custard-filled (35 percent), and chocolate (22 percent) – with 29 percent saying a doughnut is their all-time favourite sweet treat.

Jo Hemmings added: “The more reserved among us tend to stick to the enduringly popular choices of a glazed, jam, or ring doughnut.

“These personality types generally enjoy being organised, and having their work-life balance well under control. They are often the more practical ones, compared to their playful, party-loving friends.”
