Just what is going on? At the end of Avengers Endgame, Iron Man died to stop Thanos. And from the Spider-Man Far From Home trailers, it’s clear Peter Parker is mourning his deceased mentor. But it’s also certain we’ve not seen the end of Tony Stark just yet. Speaking with Total Film, Spider-Man Far From Home producer Eric Carroll has revealed that Iron Man is going to help Peter out from beyond the grave.
The producer said: “Tony and Happy help him [Peter] out in many ways along this movie..
“He’s very present; he’s just not in the movie.”
Just what could this mean? After all, there was a five-year gap between Avengers Infinity War, when Spider-Man turned dust, and the Time Heist in Avengers Endgame which brought him back.
So it’s not like Tony Stark will have been upgrading Spider-Man’s suits and tech is it?
Well, we know from the trailers that Spider-Man has new suits, so perhaps pre-Infinity War Tony had been creating new suits for Peter.
Certainly, he made him the Iron Spider suit – as deployed from Avengers HQ in Infinity War – even though at the end of Spider-Man Homecoming Peter said he wasn’t ready to be an Avenger.
This suggests the new tech Peter uses in Far From Home is from that era.
Meanwhile, it’s possible that Downey Jr will in fact cameo as Tony Stark in the movie.
During the main trailer for next month’s Avengers Endgame sequel, there’s a scene with Peter Parker looking amazed while wearing Tony’s glasses.
Some fans reckon he’ll be watching a hologram message from his deceased mentor, urging him to carry on as Spider-Man. Perhaps this is how Tony will help Peter out as the producer teased?
Certainly, this theory would tie-in with Marvel boss Kevin Feige’s reveal that Far From Home is the final Phase 3 movie, rather than Avengers Endgame.
Spider-Man Far From Home is released in UK cinemas on July 2, 2019.
