Speeding Sen. John Fetterman found at fault in car crash

Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman was reportedly found at fault for a car crash that landed himself, his wife and a 62-year-old woman in a West Virginia hospital Sunday.

The Democrat’s Chevrolet Traverse was moving at a “high rate of speed” when it rear ended a Chevrolet Impala in northwest Maryland shortly before 8 a.m., according to an incident report obtained by USA Today.

Cops said Fetterman was driving “well over” the 70 mph limit on I-70, where the collision occurred. The senator suffered a bruised shoulder.

Investigators reportedly based their findings on an unidentified witness’ account of the crash. That person alleged Fetterman’s vehicle blew past theirs before hitting the Impala.

USA Today said the investigation is ongoing and no one has been issued a ticket. No one involved was said to have been tested for drugs or alcohol.

The senator has not addressed specifics about the wreck.

Fetterman took office in 2023 after defeating television personality Dr. Mehmet Oz in a race where the Republican candidate’s connection to Pennsylvania was frequently called into question. Oz has spent a considerable amount of time in New Jersey and New York.

Fetterman meanwhile is a Pennsylvania native who has served as a mayor and a governor in the state.

The 54-year-old moderate suffered a stroke during the campaign that required a long recovery after he was elected.

Standing a big and husky 6-foot-8, the towering legislator’s casual apparel has contributed to a loosening of the Senate floor dress code.
