SMASH hit Netflix murder mystery with an A-list actress is set ‘to return for second series’ but with a major format and cast shakeup.
The first season spent six weeks in Netflix’s global top 10 and was watched for 75.1 million views.

Variety has reported that Netflix is developing a second season of the hot drama The Perfect Couple.
However, the new season will feature a completely new cast and storyline and will be the adaptation of the final instalment of Elin Hilderbrand’s Nantucket Novels, titled Swan Song.
The Perfect Couple and Swan Song both take place in Nantucket, but the new series follows the mysterious Richardson family.
Nicole Kidman, who starred in the first season as Greer Garrison, will serve as executive producer for Blossom Films.
The official synopsis of the novel reads, “Chief of Police Ed Kapenash is about to retire.
“Blond Sharon is going through a divorce but when a 22-million-dollar summer home is purchased by the mysterious Richardsons—how did they make their money, exactly?
“Ed, Sharon, and everyone in the community are swept up in high drama.
“The Richardsons throw lavish parties, flirt with multiple locals, flaunt their wealth with not one but two yachts, and raise impossible hopes of everyone they meet,
“When their house burns to the ground and their most essential employee goes missing, the entire island is up in arms.”
The first season of The Perfect Couple also starred Liev Schreiber who starred as Nicole‘s husband and the groom’s father, Tag Winbury, while Dakota Fanning played the couple’s daughter.
Rounding out the cast was Meghann Fahy, who garnered critical and commercial praise for her portrayal of Daphne Sullivan in HBO’s The White Lotus, Omar Epps, Jack Reynor, Sam Nivola, and Mia Isaac.
Nick Searcy, Donna Lynne Champlin, Ishaan Khattar, and Isabelle Adjani also starred.
The show centred on a bride, Amelia Sacks, played by Eve Hewson, and a groom, Benji Winbury, played by Billy Howle, in the weeks leading up to their wedding day.
Unfortunately, not everyone was on board with the wedding, as Benji’s mother, the famous novelist Greer Garrison Winbury, portrayed by Nicole, disapproved of the couple’s impending nuptials.
Still, she had spared no expense in planning what was to be the summer‘s premiere event, only to be met with one major problem: a dead body, washed ashore on the beach of her Nantucket home.
As their lives unravelled and secrets were revealed, Nicole’s character, Greer, continued to try to maintain the façade of a happy, normal family.
In season 2, Per Saari, Gail Berman, Shawn Levy, Susanne Bier and Hend Baghdady. Joanna Calo will also executive produce in addition to writing and show running the new season.
However, there is no cast information for the second season of The Perfect Couple yet but watch this space!
