Six Nations LIVE: Borthwick backs under-fire England star as Gatland sent blunt message

Steve Borthwick has backed “world-class goal-kicker” Marcus Smith to be back to his best from the tee against Scotland.

Despite handing the kicking duties to Fin Smith in the second half against France, the No.15 will again take responsibility in the Calcutta Cup.

“He’s a world-class goal-kicker; we all know that, so it’s simple,” said Borthwick. “Marcus is a game-changer, a player with incredible ability.

“With Fin and Marcus, we have two ball players, two people who see space, and that’s going to be very important this weekend.”
