Shower glass will become 'sparkling clean' with unusual £1.40 kitchen item

Like most other things these days, cleaning products can be pretty expensive depending on the brand.

But they’re an absolute essential in every household, and if you love to keep on top of the chores, then you’ll find yourself replacing these products pretty frequently.

However, aside from pricey sprays and cleaning gadgets, there’s a huge array of common household items that can work really effectively to tackle those tough tasks around the house.

And one of these, costing as little as £1.40 and often found in your kitchen, is an excellent tool for scrubbing off any hard water or soap scum stains from your shower glass.

Experts at BunkBeds.co.uk have revealed that kitchen foil can be used for a variety of chores in your home and it could save you a few pounds too.

We’ve all probably been faced with a grimy shower door at some point, so the next time you have to tackle this tough cleaning job, you might want to try reaching for the tin foil.

Shower door cleaning kits can cost upwards of £25 while window vacuums can cost over £80 – and while they will do a good job cleaning your shower, aluminium foil can work just as well.

Even better, a roll of foil costs as little as £1.40 from Asda, making it a hugely affordable hack too.

Hard water stains on glass shower doors can be a challenge to remove, however you can use a sheet of aluminium foil and dip it in white wine vinegar and then scrub your glass gently.

The foil helps to break down the mineral buildup, leaving your shower doors sparkling clean. The experts say that using one sheet of foil could save you between £23 to £78.

However, it’s not just your shower door that can benefit from using tin foil to clean it.

If you have old silver cutlery that looks past its best, you can give new life to it by lining a bowl with aluminium and putting a little bit of baking soda in the bowl.

Next, add hot water and your cutlery and the chemical reaction between the aluminium and the baking soda will lift the stains from your silver, leaving it looking shiny and new.

And, instead of using a sponge or brush to scrub your dirty pots and pans, you can roll some foil into a ball and use it to remove those tough food stains with a squeeze of washing up liquid.

Your homemade scrubber will now break down those stubborn marks – just don’t use them on non-stick pans as it could damage the protective surface.
