Shop worker grazed by stray bullet, second victim shot by gunman in Bronx: cops

A gunman opened fire on a Bronx street, critically wounding a 43-year-old man and grazing a smoke shop worker who was closing her store for the night, police said Saturday.

The shooting took place on West Fordham Road near University Ave., across from Devoe Park in Fordham, at about 1:15 a.m. Friday, police said.

The gunman shot the man in the back, and a stray bullet grazed a 37-year-old woman in her thigh, cops said, as she was closing up a nearby smoke shop.

EMS rushed the wounded man to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable condition on Saturday.

At about the same time, the woman took herself to New York Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center, where she was treated for a minor wound.

Police recovered surveillance images of the gunman and released them publicly in hopes that someone will recognize and identify him.

The gunman was last seen running south on University Ave.

He was described as Black, about 30 years old and about 6-feet tall. At the time of the shooting, he was wearing a red or orange hoodie, black Adidas sweatpants and white sneakers.

Anyone with information is urged to contact NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. Calls are kept confidential.
