Scotty McCreery stops show to toss out ‘coward’ who hit woman

Scotty McCreery is making headlines after he stopped a concert to help a woman who was allegedly hit by a fellow crowd member.

The “American Idol” winner, 30, was performing at the Colorado State Fair on Saturday at the time of the incident — recorded and shared on Facebook by concertgoer Jessica Rosario.

McCreery had just started playing “It Matters to Her” when, all of a sudden, he addressed the crowd: “Hey, hey, hey, right here. That’s a lady you just hit, sir.”

As the crowd booed, McCreery continued to take control of the situation.

“Absolutely not. Who just hit the lady?” he asked, pointing to the alleged assailant. “Police, security. … Get the heck out of here.”

The audience applauded as McCreery waited for security to remove the individual.

“On God’s green earth… at a Scotty McCreery show? What are you doing?” McCreery continued. “You all let the cop know who hit the lady, ’cause that’s absolutely unacceptable.”

Fellow concertgoers then pointed to help officials locate the man and he was removed.

“Whoever you are, that’s the definition of a coward, hitting a lady. Get the heck out of here,” said McCreery.

A representative for The Colorado Department of Agriculture confirmed the altercation Wednesday to People.

“This incident is still under investigation and we cannot comment further,” Olga Robak, the department’s director of communications, told the outlet.

The identities of the man and woman involved have not been made public and it remains unclear if the man was arrested.

At the time of publication, McCreery had not posted about the incident on his various social media platforms.

Representatives for the fair and The Colorado Department of Agriculture did not immediately respond to the Daily News’ request for comment.
