A fire engulfed a shopping centre in the Russian city of Grozny, in Chechnya, the territory controlled by Vladimir Putin’s ally Ramzan Kadyrov.
Astonishing pictures circulating on social media show the two-storey building being devoured by the blaze during the night between January 21 and 22.
The cause of the fire is still unknown, but no casualties have been reported, according to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM).
A statement by the ministry read: “A two-story store caught fire in the centre of Grozny. EMERCOM of Russia firefighters prevented the flames from spreading to neighbouring buildings. No one was hurt. The fire on 1,500 square meters was extinguished by 74 specialists and 10 units of EMERCOM of Russia equipment.”
This comes following a series of drone attacks launched on Russia by Ukraine.
