Ruben Amorim believes he is currently in charge of the worst Manchester United team in history.
The 39-year-old has won three, drawn two and lost six Premier League matches since replacing Erik ten Hag at the beginning of November. Amorim returned Portuguese giants Sporting to their former glory in his previous job, but all his managerial momentum has been stifled since landing at Old Trafford.
He was given another gut-punch on Sunday, when Brighton pulled off a 3-1 victory in the north-west and left United scrambling for solutions.
“We are the worst team maybe in the history of Manchester United,” said Amorim. “I know you want headlines but I am saying that because we have to acknowledge that and change that.”
