Royal Mail shares service update as two postcodes face delivery delays


Royal Mail is responsible for mail collection and delivery services throughout the UK, including letters and parcels.

Its network spans multiple modes of transport including air, rail and road, between which post is distributed from distribution hubs to mail processing centres and delivery offices around the country.

In its latest update, Royal Mail claimed that its networks ran to schedule over the last 24 hours, though some households in the south of England may face disruption.

The postal service said: “Deliveries are operating as normal across the UK today. We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week.

“In a small number of local offices, this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors.”

Royal Mail customers in Gosport with PO12 and PO13 postcodes may not receive deliveries as expected due to disruption at the Gosport delivery office.

The Mill Road office serves the PO12 3AB area but appears closed today, according to its website.

To minimise delays when there are local issues, Royal Mail claims that it rotates deliveries.

The postal service noted that it will provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore the service to the high standard our customers would normally receive.

Households across the UK should expect disruption to services next Monday, May 27, due to the bank holiday weekend.

No collections or deliveries will operate to make the Spring Bank Holiday. However, Britons can expect normal services to resume from Tuesday, May 28.
