Roses grow ‘bigger blooms like never before’ with one tried and tested kitchen scrap item

Roses are one of the most popular flowers in the world with over 100 species.

These flowers are prized for their many colours, and some have a beautiful scent.

The sizes of rose blooms range from small and compact to large and lush.

To stay healthy and keep blooming, roses require consistent fertilisation during the growing season.

With many gardening enthusiasts raving about the power of banana peels on roses, one woman decided to test it out for herself and shared her results on the Show Me Your Plants Garden and Yard Facebook page.

Sangeeth Alexander wrote: “Just wanted to say we have tried the banana peel water for the first time on the roses in my garden and it’s really making a difference.

“I’ve already noticed that my roses have bigger blooms like never before and there’s so much more of them. It’s fantastic.”

Explaining what she did, Sangeeth took to the comments section: “We just put banana peels in a bucket of water outside for a week or so and then put the water under the rose bushes – including the mushy peel.”

Fellow group members were amazed by the results as Sangeeth shared several photos of her many different roses that were all in bloom.

According to gardening experts at Bio Weed, banana peels are a good tactic to ensure roses “grow at their best”.

They said: “While this one often surprises people, bananas contain high levels of phosphorus, or one of the essential nutrients when it comes to a plant’s overall health.”

Banana peel contains lots of potassium which can help the plant’s overall immune system. Supporting the rose’s immune system can help it fight off any disease.

Even if you don’t have any roses in need of nutrients, banana peels are also a great addition to other plants or compost heaps

One user claimed that this tip works for “every plant”. Kel Galloway wrote: “We’ve actually found banana peel works wonderfully as a fertiliser on every type of plant we’ve ever tried it on.”
