Rousey competed in the main event of WrestleMania 35 in a Winner Takes All Triple Threat Match against Becky Lynch and Charlotte flair.
The UFC Hall of Famer lost to Lynch, who became the RAW and SmackDown Women’s Champion, and what’s worse she broke her hand during the first ever all-women’s WrestleMania main event.
Due to her injury The Baddest Woman on the Planet didn’t appear on RAW the next night at the Barclays Center in New York even though she was reportedly backstage.
According to the International Business Times, the UFC legend was set to take a long break from Vince McMahon’s promotion before getting injured.
It is also claimed that the ex-RAW Women’s Champion was scheduled to appear on the first episode of the new season before taking off.
Rousey is reportedly set to undergo surgery on Tuesday and her return date is currently unknown.
WWE, though, hope to have her back either later this year or early 2020.
Rumours suggested for months that the first ever UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion would take a long break after WrestleMania.
There was also speculation that the MMA hero would leave the wrestling giants altogether to start a family with her husband Travis Browne.
However, WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon is confident Rousey will be back.
McMahon told Express Sport: “I don’t know, I think you have to ask Ronda.
“But let me just say, regardless of whether Ronda goes away for a little while or not she’ll be back.
“And WWE will welcome her with open arms.”
Rousey had a stellar first year in WWE as she remained undefeated for 12 months, held on to the RAW Women’s Championship for a record 232 days and defeated some of the biggest stars in the promotion like Sasha Banks, Nia Jax, Alexa Bliss and more.
