Riverdale season 4: Betty Cooper’s sister groomed in chilling Farm twist fans missed

The third season of Riverdale saw Betty Cooper (played by Lili Reinhart) try to infiltrate The Farm run by Edgar Evernever (Chad Michael Murray).

She eventually found out it was a front for an organ-harvesting business, but what she doesn’t know is how sister Polly was drawn to the cult in the first place.

Polly played a pivotal role in getting their mother Alice Cooper (Madchen Amick) involved with The Farm in the series three much to the annoyance of Betty.

Betty and her mother have known about The Farm long before season three though as Polly had planned to go there with dead boyfriend Jason.

When Jason’s body was found in Sweetwater River, Polly revealed she was expecting twins and she had her dead beau had wanted to run away.

The star-crossed lovers were set to join The Farm and raise their children there.

Polly eventually took her twins there alone and insisted they had a good life but Betty was incredibly suspicious.

Of course, fans now know she had every right to be but how did Polly find out about The Farm anyway?

Well, it’s been revealed Polly was essentially groomed into joining like many of Betty’s school friends.

In panels released in the Riverdale comic books issued on Reddit, Everlyn Evernever approached Polly before Jason’s death.

Polly can be seen waiting for Jason at the Twilight Drive-In looking lonely when Evelyn pops up.

“Excuse me,” she says. “You look like you could use a friend.”

Everlyn is pictured holding flyers for The Farm which she hands to Polly to entice her.

Polly wanted to keep her affair with Jason a secret so it’s easy to see how Everlyn plotted to recruit the struggling school girl by becoming her confidante.

Meanwhile, it has been hinted there could be heartbreak for Betty in the new series.

The third run will see Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse) head to a new prep school meaning he won’t get to see his girlfriend as much.

As the pair begin to drift, could they decide it’s best to split up?

Speaking at San Diego Comic Con, Cole told press: “He’s only back in town on the weekends,” with Lili adding the distance “will probably cause some stress”.

Cole added: ”I think that is going to inevitably put stress on the relationship between Betty and Jughead.

“I think it might be a little bit tense. They might fall, turn away from each other, only to come back together way stronger. I think they’re gonna be really good.”

Riverdale season 4 airs on The CW and Netflix later this year.
