The politics of demographics in this election
Terre Haute, Ind.: At the NATO summit meeting, President Biden introduced Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelenskyy as Putin. Biden’s mental incapacity is beyond question. He’s out. Biden will stand down from the presidential election campaign prior to the Democratic National Convention.
Michelle Obama is behind a stone wall. She is nowhere to be seen. Her husband says nothing about her. No one is able to secure information about the woman, and she most certainly has not posed on the cover of Vogue in a $7,000 dress as Queen Jill did recently. Michelle’s daughters are off-limits to the press, given this crew is terribly afraid of Barack. The press will never be able to glean any information about mom from these two.
Kamala Harris is out. She is Indian-Jamaican and lived in Canada for years. She is not an American Black woman. Gavin Newsom will remain in the woodwork until 2028. When Harris is passed over for the Democratic nomination, she will be unable to spout sexist or race-card excuses given that Michelle, the party preference, is actually African-American. In a Michelle versus Donald Trump presidential election matchup, Michelle is very popular among Blacks, women and Hispanics.
Although he has no use for Nikki Haley, Trump should select her as his VP running mate. With Haley on his ticket, even with Michelle facing both with her Barack firepower, Trump would have been an assured winner. As it stands today, without Haley on the Trump team, given the Obama brand, to a great degree, a high probability exists that Michelle will be the next president of the United States. Earl Beal
Only fans

Blind to his flaws
Jamaica: As we all know by now, Biden had one of the worst nights of his life at the debate, as he has rightfully acknowledged. So many people are saying, “get rid of him, not fit.” The other candidate has 34 convictions against him but I’ve not heard too many say “get rid of him.” The oath says, “I will, to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.” So, 34 convictions mean nothing to so many people who swear Trump is fit for the job regardless. But if Trump’s convictions were brought against Hillary, dare I even mention Obama, the Trump following would be calling for either of them to step down from their political career. It just proves it’s a Trump cult. Shirley Watts
Time takes a toll
Hampton Bays, L.I.: I’m 84 and I feel it. Years ago, I along with two friends built two extensions on my house. I did all the electrical and plumbing work. About a month ago, I added an electric outlet on the outside of my house. It took me all day and it was wrong. The next day I had to fix it. That took about three hours. I have trouble remembering people or things’ names. I know this is all because of my age and I accept it and have to count on my younger wife to check on me to do things like make airline reservations. Two years ago, I screwed up the dates and we couldn’t get on our flight home. I know it will only get worse. But still, I will fight like hell when they try to take away my car keys. That’s Biden’s situation right now. Someone has to have a serious discussion with him. Gene Kelly
VP swap
Smithtown, L.I.: I think I have a solution to the problem of whether Biden could gracefully bow out of the presidential race. Why can’t Kamala Harris take the presidential position and Biden could serve as her vice president? Kamala could have the expertise of Biden as her second-in-command and Joe would still have access to the highest levels of our government. The 22nd Amendment could only cause a problem if he had served two terms, but since he has only served one, this wouldn’t cause any difficulty. Harriet Litvack
Ye be judged
Bronx: Glad to hear that Voicer Bob Pascarella is not judging the “reckless, nonsensical, juvenile and foolish comments, especially the Trump-hating Biden supporters.” Good to know he’s not judgmental. As for pitying “the fools,” one can also say that about the Trump lovers — they are the ones to be pitied for their blind allegiance to a convicted felon. Mary Ann Guarneri
Bad judgment
Boynton Beach, Fla.: Great to hear from right-wing pundit Voicer Bob Pascarella, once again supporting his hero and convicted felon Donald J. Trump. I accept your challenge, Bob, about “who am I to judge,” from the Good Book, i.e., “judge not lest ye be judged yourself.” Unlike MAGA cult leader Trump, I have never been convicted of a felony, adjudicated as a sexual assaulter in a civil trial, stolen money from a children’s charity, defrauded university students out of millions — $25 million, to be exact — incited a violent terror attack on our nation’s Capitol Building in an effort to end our democracy, lied nonstop about a pandemic while thousands of Americans were dying every day, or organized campaign rallies where I whine and cry constantly about anything and everything being rigged against me when I am not relating insane anecdotes about boat batteries, sharks, snakes or the late, great Hannibal Lecter. William T. Bredin
Great minds think alike
White Plains, N.Y.: I’ve never considered myself a cartoon satirist. However, every time I read Bramhall’s World last week, I wondered why Donald Trump wasn’t shown wearing a king’s cloak and crown. Well, on Friday, he was. Hmm, maybe I should consider a new career. Randi Bernstein Feigenbaum
In our prayers
Margate, Fla.: Voicer John A. MacKinnon knows absolutely nothing about Judaism. It exists solely within the four squares of the 3,500-year-old Jewish Bible, a.k.a. the Old Testament. That Jewish Bible has only one foundational narrative: the Jewish People’s Return to Zion, what today is Israel. It is not complicated. Zionism is Judaism and has been for 3,500 years. That is why Jerusalem is mentioned 659 times in the Jewish Bible. That is why, at the conclusion of the Passover Seder for 2,000 years, Jews stand and loudly and proudly pray the ultimate Zionist prayer: Next year in Jerusalem! Richard Sherman
Consider your history
Manhattan: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s loss of the endorsement of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) for sponsoring an event with Jewish leaders on combating antisemitism could be a uniquely appropriate wake-up call for the popular congressional leader given her ancestral identity. Shortly have her successful 2018 campaign for office, she told a Chanukah audience in Queens that she was a descendant of Jews who had fled the Inquisition in Spain. The audience went wild with joy. Their rapture, however, was aborted by AOC’s joining the viciously anti-Israel and antisemitic “Squad” in Congress. But if AOC has the ethics and courage her image glorifies, the next time she talks about Israel, she will officially recognize that a prime motive of the Zionist movement was the establishment of a state that would grant unconditional asylum to all Jews, including those victimized by oppression such as the Inquisition — which her family was lucky to escape. Prevent cruelty
Yorktown Heights, N.Y.: Thank you for “Rigid truths about garbage” (editorial, July 11). Cleanliness and bins for trash are some of the logical strategies for rodent management. Glue traps are horrific. They do nothing except ensure cycles of maximum suffering because rats will stay and reproduce where food is available. Glue traps cause severe and prolonged agony, often made worse by injured organs and broken and chewed limbs from attempts to escape. Animals stuck on glue traps can suffer for days until they die from blood loss, shock, dehydration or starvation. This barbarism is why countries and territories continue to ban them, stores are discontinuing their sales and various entities no longer use them. New York state residents can contact their assemblymembers and senators and ask them to co-sponsor S.6314/A.4785, a bill to end the sale and use of glue traps in New York. James Scotto
