Trump’s followers can follow where he’s headed
Garwood, N.J.: The MAGA crowd is a deeply strange tribe, constantly looking under rocks for the “other” so they can persecute them for the crime of not behaving as they do. So it’s amusing that the reddest state of them all, the very heart and soul of the old Confederacy, features as its senators two men “on the down-low” — one an utter wretch so without any pride in his true self that overnight, he flipped from a Donald Trump critic to a forelock-tugging toady of the former game show host, no doubt because Trump threatened to expose his secret life. History will not be kind to the senator. It’s amusing that the other senator from his state was on the short list for the GOP vice presidential nod.
After he loses in November, petulant Donnie will lash out and claim unworthy GOP members let him down and will expose the two senators anyway. Likely, Don will then hightail the short 90-mile run to Cuba, thence on a Russian sub to a waiting dacha refuge on the Black Sea. With neighbors like Russian citizen Steven Seagal, they can form a Russian chapter of the Fans of Benedict Arnold Society.
My money is on Donnie hieing to North Korea, where a choice of jobs awaits him: host of a new version of “The Gong Show” where losers are executed, or as Kim Jong Un’s Mini-Me court jester. Millions of MAGA folks and the N.Y. Post’s entire readership will attempt to follow him, as lemmings do, gathering in such numbers on the South Korean border that the North Korean people will demand new walls be erected to keep these seething masses out. Mike Gordeuk
Border police?
Sunnyside: If Kamala Harris claims she hasn’t changed her views, bragging about prosecuting illegal migrant criminals and cartels as a district attorney and then as attorney general of California, then why would she and Joe Biden knowingly let million of illegal, unvetted migrants into our country knowing the risk? Glenn J. McManus
Absent leadership
Valley Stream, L.I.: I really don’t care who our next president will be as long as he or she does away with the Census Bureau. The last six administrations proved they were not interested in who or what comes into this country. I believe this because this breach of our Southern border has been no secret for at least 25 years. Not one president in that time that I know of acknowledged the grief that our Southern U.S. citizens living along the border were going through, and did not openly declare something was wrong and must be corrected, proving that if the leaders of our country don’t care how many enter this country and where they live, why do we even need a Census Bureau? Why do we have leaders if they don’t lead us? John Esposito
Voter fraud playbook
Glen Head, L.I.: As the election of 2024 draws near, I would like to remind all loyal Democratic voters to follow the plan: Vote early and vote often! Bring all the illegals you can find on the streets to vote as well. Since no voter ID is necessary, with proper coaching, anyone can vote in certain sections of NYC and New York State. Get your absentee ballots, fill them out and mail them in. You can also go to your polling place and vote too! With early voting, you can vote in a number of different polling places (no ID required)! Do you really think that anyone is going to check if the voters who submitted absentee ballots also showed up to vote in person, especially in Democrat-controlled precincts? By the way, this is how it is done! Robert Kralick
Let’s be real
Bronx: Unemployment is down, job creation is up. Under Trump, there was the greatest loss of jobs since the depression. “Illegal” migrants make up a large part of our farmworkers and food processors. The biggest migrant crime wave came in past centuries, when white Europeans slaughtered truly native Americans. According to the most recently available FBI statistics, crime was down between 2020 and 2022. Then-President Trump certainly showed no concern for law and order on Jan. 6, 2021, the day he tried to make himself a dictator. Any Trump supporters who wonder why Germans fell for Hitler should look at themselves. Why are you so willing to vote away your freedom? Richard Warren
Misplaced criticisms
Brookfield, Conn.: To Voicer Frank Mongiello: So, the “orange chicken” lied about his bone spurs. Did President Biden also lie about his asthma? He had the same number of deferments, but you voted for him. As far as dodging the debate goes, the last I heard, it was Harris holding things up, wanting the mics to be live all the time. You also brought up Harris’ intelligence, values and morals. We won’t mention values and morals because she is, after all, a Democrat. And my hair is more intelligent, or haven’t you been paying attention the last four years? Fred Schoeneborn
Lowball libel
Swarthmore, Pa.: Recently, on his social media platform, Donald Trump reposted someone’s insinuation that Kamala Harris’ political rise was facilitated not by her skills, but rather by her performing sexual acts on powerful men. Trump has frequently called her “not smart,” a not-so-veiled bigoted slur on Harris being a Black woman. Now Trump’s saying that not only is she dumb, but she has also sexually exploited her body, using sex to advance her political career. Just when you think Trump couldn’t be any more base and vile, he manages to go even lower. Ken Derow
Try this
Auburndale: People who have trouble remembering how to pronounce “Kamala” have a simple remedy: Call her “VP Harris” or “Future President Harris.” Cathi Venis
Nobody’s fools
Brooklyn: I’m a retired NYPD lieutenant, first-responder cancer survivor from the terror attacks on the World Trade Center and proud to have worn the uniform of the NYPD for 22 years. We are known as New York’s Finest, but Mayor Adams seems to think we are New York’s Dumbest. Stop telling us how great the Aetna Medicare Advantage Plan is. We know it is inferior to traditional Medicare. Stop telling us how much money NYC will save with this switch. Studies have been made. There are no significant savings. I’m 69 and a lifetime New Yorker. We are not dumb. We are senior citizens who have been around the block a few times. We are New Yorkers. Stop trying to sell us the Brooklyn Bridge. Jack La Torre
Fueled by fossils
Glendale: Voicer David Bissoon apparently can’t think for himself, he can only repeat slogans and ideas that others put forth. He states that Gov. Hochul should sign the “Climate Change Superfund Act” that would make fossil fuel companies pay for the damage they‘ve caused. I would make an argument that these fossil fuel companies have made life better for us all. For years, they have provided fuel that keeps trucks going, delivering food to markets and providing us with goods we need. In addition, during the winter they heat our houses, which, if left to Mother Nature, would have water pipes bursting everywhere! David, do you read by electric light or do you use a candle at night? I can go on. By the way, I don’t work for a fossil fuel company, I am just someone who can think on their own. Thomas Murawski
No pets
Rosedale: To Voicer David Gonzalez: I couldn’t agree with you more. Forget malls and department stores. I work in a grocery store. Why do I have to first tell people they can’t have their dogs in the shopping cart, and then explain why it is inappropriate. Like you, I have no problem with dogs. But they are not people and don’t belong everywhere people are. With the exception of service animals, of course. But not “emotional support” dogs, as all pets are emotional support animals, as you love them and they love you. Shirley Jordan
