Rapper Travis Scott released from jail after Paris arrest, assault case dismissed

Rapper Travis Scott was freed from a French jail some 24 hours after he was arrested at a Paris hotel over an alleged brawl involving himself, security and his own bodyguard.

The Paris prosecutor’s office on Saturday confirmed the custody order for Travis Scott had been lifted and the case dismissed because the offense was not considered “sufficiently serious.”

Scott’s rep also confirmed he was “released with no charges” Saturday morning. From jail, he was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital due a cut caused by a shattered vase. His exact condition was unclear.

His rep noted there “were no injuries to any other party including his security.”

Scott — whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster II — was arrested early Friday morning following an altercation with his bodyguard at the George V hotel, a swanky spot in the Olympic Village with views of the Eiffel Tower.

Police said hotel security subsequently became involved in the fight between Scott and his bodyguard, and attempted to separate the pair.

Officers were then called to the hotel and arrested the rapper “for assaulting a security guard,” the Paris prosecutor’s office said in a statement to NBC News at the time.

Video shows Scott being escorted from the five-star spot in handcuffs, with a police officer on either side of him.

The Houston-born rapper traveled to Paris to watch the 2024 Olympic games, but his trip quickly turned stressful, with hundreds of fans and paparazzi swarming him every time he took to the streets. Clips shared on social media show Scott at one point pleading with shutterbugs to leave him alone.

The “Sicko Mode” singer eventually became frustrated with his bodyguard, who he felt wasn’t doing enough to keep him safe, sources told TMZ.

Scott’s run-in with French police comes just more than a month after he was arrested in Florida on misdemeanor charges of trespassing and public intoxication.

On Thursday, the latter charge was dropped, though prosecutors still plan to move forward with the trespassing charge, TMZ reported.
