Queens cat owner busted for allegedly trying to drown two kittens

A cat owner who allegedly tried to drown two kittens at Rockaway Beach — claiming he was just cleaning their “poop” — has been charged with animal cruelty, the Queens District Attorney’s Office said Wednesday.

Wesley Dahlman, 21, was hit with charges including torturing and injuring the kittens after a witness called 911 claiming they saw Dahlman dipping a gray cat-carrier multiple times in the water near Beach 62nd Street and Rockaway Beach Boulevard around 5 p.m. Monday, the DA’s complaint stated.

When cops arrived, they saw Dahlman in the water and the kittens on the sand, according to the complaint.

“Yes the cats are mine, I rescued them,” Dahlman told authorities, the complaint stated. “The cats were covered in poop, and I was just cleaning them off in the ocean.”

It was unclear if the kittens were injured in the dousing,

On Wednesday, the Queens District Attorney’s Office charged Dahlman with attempted cruelty. He was arraigned and ordered to return to court in October.
