Queen Maxima looks elegant in red dress – £69 M&S alternative 'flatters fuller figures'

Royal fans were blown away with Queen Maxima’s elegant and chic fashion choices. “Wow!” Sarah Kay posted to the Royal Fashion Police Instagram. “No one can dress like Maxima.”

Sarah Kay elaborated: “She can wear the brightest, loudest, most eclectic outfits and she owns every last stitch of it… bravo.”

Rebecca Erees declared: “Maxima has the best royal wardrobe.” Another fan said: “Wow! What an amazing look. I love it all – the colour, the combination of the pieces, the length of the dress, shoes, purse, all of it!”

The 52-year-old wore the red, above-the-knee designer dress from Natan, a Belgian couture and ready-to-wear label.

She completed her outfit with a £380 red clutch from Sophie Habsburg and Gianvi Torossi “Gianvito 105” Red Suede Pumps.

Her lovely hat, which helped complete the gorgeous outfit, was from Belgian hat designer Maison Fabienne Delvigne. While the price of designer items can add up, similar pieces can be found on the high street.

Next offer a Ted Baker Raelea Rib Engineered Bodycon Midi Dress (£179) from sizes eight to 16. The length is longer than the red dress worn by Queen Maxima, but it’s still an elegant piece.

A more relaxed fit, yet very pretty, red dress can be found at Marks and Spencer (M&S) for £69. One reviewer said: “Lovely dress… will look lovely worn on summer evenings.

“Compliments and flatters the fuller figure. A little more expensive than I would like to pay for an everyday dress, but does look a million dollars on and is very good quality.”

Next also offer a Lipsy Foldover Ocassion Envelope Clutch Bag for £26, which is a great accessory piece for special occasions.

John Lewis have the Ravel Ardee Clutch Bag for £45, as an alternative, which pairs well with elegant evening wear for numerous events.

If you’re feeling especially fancy and confident, Wolf and Badger have a Red Felt Fedora Hat for £185. Although the House of Bruar have a more affordable fedora hat option for £39.95.

Whichever pieces you put together, by following in the footsteps of Queen Maxima’s fashion sense, you can’t go too far wrong.
