There’s bad news for PS Plus subscribers, because Sony will take longer than usual to announce the PlayStation Plus Extra games for May 2024. Replacing the likes of Immortals of Aveum and Minecraft Legends, next month’s free PS4 and PS5 games won’t actually be unveiled until the afternoon of May 1. Due to the way the dates fall, the May PlayStation Plus games will be announced at the start of May, before joining the service less than a week later on the morning of May 7. The games will be available until June 4, giving subscribers four weeks to add them to their libraries. The only upside to the PS Plus delay is that subscribers will have longer to redeem the April 2024 games.
The headline release is Immortals of Aveum, which is a first-person shooter with a magical twist.
Sony explains more: “This single-player first-person magic shooter tells the story of Jak as he joins an elite order of battlemages to save a world on the edge of an abyss.
“Magic is at the core of both your offense and defence. Experience fast, fluid, first-person spell-based combat. Unlock and upgrade more than 25 Spells and 80 Talents.

Minecraft Legends, on the other hand, is a dungeon-crawler set in the Minecraft universe.
“In this action strategy game. Explore a gentle land of rich resources and lush biomes on the brink of destruction.
“The ravaging piglins have arrived, and it’s up to you to form alliances with new friends and familiar mobs, then lead the charge in epic battles against the fierce piglins to defend the Overworld.
“You can challenge your friends or team up in intense battles in online play for up to eight players, as you defend your village while leading your units to destroy your opponents’ settlements.”
While it’s certainly not the highest profile release, Skul: The Hero Slayer is arguably the pick of the bunch, featuring 2D platforming with rogue-like elements.
