The PlayStation Plus games for January 2025 are just days away from being revealed by Sony.
The delayed reveal takes place at 4.30pm GMT UK time on the afternoon of January 1. This means you’ll have to wait until January 7 before you can download and play the new releases.
Without any leaks to speak of, subscribers have been attempting to predict the line-up ahead of the big reveal.
And there’s one iconic horror game that well and truly leads the pack.
Indeed, based on the monthly predictions thread over on Reddit, fans believe Resident Evil Village will finally join the PS Plus Essentials line-up on January 7.
A bit of a throwback to Resident Evil 4, the latest mainline entry in the Resident Evil series takes place in a remote village full of monsters like werewolves, vampires and witches.
Similar to its predecessor, Resident Evil Village adopts a first-person perspective, albeit with a greater emphasis on action.
With Capcom rumoured to be working on a new sequel, adding Resident Evil Village to PS Plus feels like a matter of when and not if.
Elsewhere, other fans believe South Park SnowDay will join PS Plus Essentials in January. The game wasn’t exactly a critical or commercial hit, so a PS Plus release could give it a new lease of life.
Other games with lots of predictions include Avatar Frontiers of Pandora, SnowRunner, Atomic Heart, Star Wars Jedi Survivor and Atomic Heart.
Atomic Heart has been a regular pick in the predictions thread ever since leaving Xbox Game Pass earlier this year.
Heavy-hitters like Hogwarts Legacy, God of War Ragnarok, Lies of P, Lords of the Fallen also feature in thread.
That’s on top of Prince of Persia The Lost Crown, Jusant, Terminator Resistance and first-person shooter Robocop Rogue City.
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty and Horizon Forbidden West get a mention or two, as well as Sea of Stars, Hi-Fi Rush, Judgement, Hades, Suicide Squad and Planet Zoo.
Isometric puzzle game Cocoon is starting to appear a lot more frequently, not to mention Assassin’s Creed Mirage, F1 24, EA Sports WRC, Stray, A Way Out and Atlas Fallen.
As a reminder, the games will replace It Takes Two, Aliens: Dark Descent and TemTem.
