The December line-up is headlined by Sonic Frontiers, which has long been tipped for an Extra release.
The open-world Sonic game turned some heads when it was announced, largely due to its real-world style visuals.
While it does have its critics, Sonic Frontiers was well received by fans, earning a Very Positive score on Steam, and an 8.2/10 user rating on Metacritic.
Elsewhere, Square Enix action game Forspoken is also coming to PS Plus Extra. Despite some laughably bad dialogue, Forspoken is just about worth checking out. The magic-based parkour system is actually pretty decent, even if other elements aren’t quite up to scratch.
Other games joining the line-up include Rabbids: Party of Legends, WRC Generations, FIST: Forged in Shadow Torch, Jurassic World Evolution 2, Coffee Talk, A Space for the Unbound, Biped and Phogs.
Premium subscribers can play even more games, as Sly 2, Sly 3, Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy join the service.
Sony also continues to offer something for PSVR 2 owners, with Star Wars Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge coming to PS Plus Premium on December 17.
Unfortunately, however, it’s not all good news, because lots of games are leaving PS Plus Extra this month.
This includes Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin, which is arguably the highest-profile game leaving the service in December.
Other games leaving PS Plus Extra include Dead Island and Dead Island Riptide, as well as entertaining detective game Judgement.
That’s on top of a trio of Mega Man games, including Mega Man 11, Mega Man Legacy Collection and Mega Man Legacy Collection 2.
Consider this your last chance to enjoy games such as Metal Hellsinger, Soulstice, Vampire The Masquerade Coteries of New York, Moonscars, Grime, Tinykin, Evil Genius 2 World Domination and GigaBash.
One game I would strongly recommend playing before it leaves PS Plus Extra is first-person boomer shooter Prodeus.
