Costco is continuing its global expansion with plans to open at least three new warehouse locations by July 2025.

The Washington-based wholesaler, known for its bulk deals and devoted membership base, currently operates 905 warehouses worldwide.

These include 624 stores across the United States and Puerto Rico.

Costco revealed that the new stores will be located in Pyeongtaek, South Korea (June 2025), Malmö, Sweden (July 2025), and Midland, Texas (July 2025), according to its “Coming Soon” page.

These openings are part of Costco’s growth strategy, which aims to launch 25 to 30 new locations annually.

About half of those are typically in the US, with the remainder spread across international markets, according to chief financial officer Gary Millerchip.

With more than 140 million card-carrying members worldwide, Costco’s expansion efforts are being closely watched by industry analysts.

The company has cultivated a strong reputation for offering high-quality goods at low prices, along with member-exclusive perks.

In addition to the upcoming locations, Costco has already opened several new stores in recent months.

In March, it launched warehouses in Brentwood and Highland, California; Sharon, Massachusetts; Genesee County, Michigan; and Prosper and Weatherford, Texas.

The expansion continued in April with new stores in Stuart, Florida; Ardeer, Australia; and Minami Alps, Japan.

“We have big plans for the rest of the fiscal year,” CEO Ron Vachris said ahead of the California openings.

The company’s fiscal year ends August 31, which may mean even more potential store launches in the coming months.

Costco’s international growth reflects a wider trend of US retailers tapping into international markets.

Locations in Asia and Europe have become increasingly important to Costco’s revenue streams, with strong performance in countries like South Korea and Japan.

The new stores also offer local economies job opportunities and increased access to affordable goods, especially in underserved regions.

Midland, Texas, for example, will join several other Texas cities that recently welcomed Costco locations.

With ongoing inflation and economic uncertainty, Costco’s value-oriented business model continues to appeal to price-conscious consumers.

Its strategy of combining grocery staples with unexpected items like gold bars has helped build its reputation as a destination for impulse buys.

As the company eyes new markets, more announcements may follow in the second half of the year.

Costco fans around the world can keep an eye on the “Coming Soon” page for updates.
