Less than two weeks after Hurricane Helene devastated parts of the U.S. Southeast, Florida is gearing up for another major storm as Hurricane Milton is expected to make landfall on Tuesday, Oct. 8, into Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2024. Milton strengthened to a Category 4 storm on Monday, Oct. 7, 2024, as it barreled across the Gulf of Mexico with sustained winds of 150 mph, heading towards Florida’s storm-battered western coast.
