A Northeast Philadelphia man who’s paralyzed from the waist down was shot in the chest during a home invasion early Tuesday morning, authorities said.

The victim, who has not been named, was reportedly asleep in his bedroom when he was shot by at least one of two intruders who had broken into his residence in the city’s Frankford neighborhood just before 3:30 a.m.

The two masked suspects gained access to the residence by pulling out an air conditioning unit from a window and climbing into the home, police said.

When investigators arrived at the scene, they found “a 28-year-old man laying in bed suffering from two gunshot wounds to his torso,” Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said, according to NBC Philadelphia.

The victim, who was found “conscious and talking,” was transported to a nearby hospital to be treated for his injuries. Officials said he was in stable condition.

A woman and a 4-year-old girl, described by police as their daughter, were also home at the time of the shooting,  but they were not harmed, ABC Philadelphia reported.

Police believe the two men didn’t take anything from the home.

No arrests have been made and a motive for the shooting remains under investigation, Philadelphia Police said.
