Pensioner with dementia told garden tidy up will cost £3,000 – but then gets shock

An elderly gentleman suffering from dementia didn’t know what to do after he was quoted an eye-watering £3,000 for a simple garden tidy up job.

It can be tricky to keep on top of all the jobs that need doing to maintain an impressive garden, especially as people reach a certain age.

However, with the cost of pretty much everything rising at the moment, getting professionals in to sort it out can be extremely expensive.

A pensioner living in Manchester was recently faced with this exact problem. A recent video shared by Garden Yardz Mowing on TikTok showed how the man’s grass and shrubs had grown out of control.

The pensioner simply didn’t want to fork out such an extortionate fee, but thankfully the man behind the Garden Yardz Mowing account stepped in and gave him the surprise of his life.

Garden Yardz Mowing has racked up more than 21,000 followers on TikTok, where he films himself doing garden jobs for free or very cheaply for people in the Manchester area. And that’s exactly what he did for the pensioner in this recent video, which has been viewed more than 22,000 times.

Captions on the video read: “Elderly gentlemen living with dementia gets quoted £3,000 for garden tidy up […] so I took care of it for 100.”

In the clip, he is seen taking his trusty strimmer to the overgrown grass, ensuring the edges of the penioner’s lawn are neat before clipping his shrubs. He is then seen packing all of the debris into a bin and using a blower to get rid of any small bits. At the end of this process, the pensioner’s garden looks completely transformed.

People in the comments section below the video thanked Garden Yardz Mowing for his kind gesture. One comment read: “Where do they get these prices, thank goodness for honest gardener like you.”

Another said: “Such a kind man, you did a great job as always.” And a third said: “Well done for helping wish there was more like you.”
