A Pennsylvania man was shot and killed Tuesday after allegedly fighting over a parking space.
The shooting occurred in Export, about 20 miles east of Pittsburgh, around 2 p.m., the Pennsylvania State Police said.
Daniel Chicka, 65, was visiting his girlfriend when he was shot on the street. Matt Miller, 32, was arrested.
Neighbors said the dispute over the parking space had continued for several months before escalating this week. Another neighbor reported Miller was territorial about the space.
Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Steve Limani told WTAE both men had guns.
“It appears that these two neighbors have had an ongoing dispute over parking, which is a shame because it escalated into one of the neighbors shooting the other, and subsequently that neighbor died from the gunshots,” Limani said.
“I heard something about [the parking space dispute] a couple of weeks or months ago but I didn’t think it would get to this point when you’re going to kill someone,” a neighbor told WXPI.
Officials said no charges have yet to be filed against Miller because investigators are still gathering surveillance video of the incident to better determine the sequence of events.
Five shots were fired and Miller is claiming self-defense, according to KDKA.
