The US Sun has been reporting on the final days of Joann before it fades from existence.
All of the stores are set to close by the end of May, meaning that shoppers don’t have long left to grab items from the liquidation sales.
A number of stores are set to shut in the coming days, and sales up to 70% off are still running.
Joann has also notably stopped operating online, meaning you can only find these deals in stores that are still running.
A HAUNTING ATMOSPHERE
Now, we have seen pictures inside a Joann, and it captures the dying breaths of a beloved chain.
One social media visited their local Joann in Rochester New York and was left stunned at what was left.
He spoke of the lack of music, staff members and items on the shelves as a surreal experience.
The caption of the Facebook post said: “Visited my closing Jo- Ann Fabrics store here in Rochester, NY, where it was a ghost town.
“No music, no hvac, little to no staff, and aisles and aisles of nothing!
“Very little signage or fixtures with the logo on it, all carts and baskets were sold ( this store didn’t even have them, strangely enough!)
“Enjoy these shots, as this store will be another one in the retail books.”
PICTURES WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS
And the pictures can only capture what Joann looks like now on the surface.
It leaves viewers to imagine the haunting remains of a once thriving fabrics retailer.
The images show a huge collection of empty shelves with nothing on them with yellow tape strewn over them as a safety precaution.
Elsewhere, shopping carts have been moved to the side given that nobody is around to use them.
Boxes can also be seen to package the stock that is not sold, and it is unclear what will happen to any remaining items.
BRANDS HARD HIT BY BANKRUPTCIES
Many chains have struggled to adapt to a post-Covid retail landscape, with several companies filing for bankruptcy
The colorful rows of yarn still on sale contrast heavily against the vacant and dull browns of the shelves with nothing on them.
Shoppers in the comments could only comment on how dishevelled the store looks in its current state.
One person said: “Looks like those floors have been neglected for many years prior to the closing announcement!”
And someone replied to this: “I was thinking the same thing! They gave up on strip and wax a long time ago.”
One customer was shocked at the state of the sale conditions: “They need to have a better sale.”
