Panic has erupted in Spain after a gunfight broke out in a fairground in a popular city.
The terrifying incident happened shortly before midnight on Wednesday, at the start of the San Antolín de Palencia festival.
Several people were injured, with two wounded by gunshots, according to local reports.
Emergency services rushed to the scene at the city’s exhibition centre at around 11.50pm after reports that a number of passenger cars were involved.
A short while later, a separate incident involving the alleged attacker’s family and the family of one of the victims is said to have caused chaos at the Río Carrión hospital.
A police spokeperson said: “At around 11.50 p.m, a call was received about a possible hit-and-run at the fairgrounds.
“The Local Police transported an injured person to a medical centre. Several cars involved.
“Río Carrión Hospital reports another altercation between several relatives of the possible aggressor and the injured.
“The area is cordoned off and several shotgun and/or pistol shells were collected at the fairgrounds. The fight was separated at the hospital; at this time and in the absence of full confirmation, there is evidence of at least two injured from being run over, and one from other causes. It seems that the incident involved fairgoers and some gypsies.”
