Hallways can often be neglected when it comes to interior design because they aren’t an area where you spend any time.
However, they are the first area of the home guests see or even residents and can set the tone for the entire home.
Paint and interiors expert Anjelica Delfino, from V&CO, has exclusively shared four colours which can help to energise the hallway and create an inviting home.
Yellow
The expert told Express.co.uk: “Often associated with sunshine and the outdoors, researchers have found that yellow surroundings boost serotonin levels and provide a sense of excitement and well-being.
“Yellow creates a cultured and elegant environment in a hallway that will enhance mood and encourage contentment.
“Create a holiday-like ambience in the hallway, by pairing the shade with accent browns and soft sea blues.”
2. Orange
According to the paint expert, orange is an “alluring” colour which invokes confidence and style in a hallway.
The shade has such depth and layers whilst still being fresh, crisp and bright, helping to lighten the space.
The expert recommended Orange Shade 1 from V&CO which is a blend between an apricoat blush with yellow undertones.
Anjelica added: “The toasty yellow undertone makes it an enveloping and cosy colour that you can layer up and be playful with.
“The shade comes with a real ambience of the med and pairs flawlessly with butter yellows and toasted browns.”
There are lots of orange shades on the market, and whilst it is down to personal preference, a deep orange is a great tone for the hallway.
3. Green
Green tones are traditionally associated with balance and calm, making it a great foundation colour for the hallway.
The expert said: “A soulful green radiating with auburn undertones makes an effortless enhancement to any room.
“Coordinating the shade with blush pinks and earthy terracotta will create a beautiful invigorating feel to the hallway entrance.”
4. Soft pink
The paint pro continued: “A hint of soft pink adds luxury and sophistication to a hallway.
“Typically associated with, but not limited to, feminine spaces, pink instigates feelings of love and kindness.
“Using a softer pink will uplift the mood and brighten any space. To create a serene space pair the shade with meadow-like colours such as grass green and berry red.”
