Over 200 protesters from Jewish pro-Palestine group arrested at NY Stock Exchange

Cops arrested over 200 protesters from the pro-Palestine group Jewish Voice for Peace who chained themselves to the doors of the New York Stock Exchange ahead of the opening bell Monday morning, cops said.

The protesters, who wore red shirts emblazoned with the words “Not in our name” and “Stop arming Israel,” staged a sit-in just before 9:30 a.m. outside the historic Wall St. building.

They aimed to “shut down business as usual” and send a message to the U.S. government to stop sending weapons to Israel, Jewish Voice for Peace director Beth Miller told news outlets.

“The reason we were here, specifically as Jews, is because the Biden administration and the Israeli government often say this genocide they are committing is in the name of Jewish safety and we reject that with every fiber of our being,” Miller said.

In total about 500 protesters attended the demonstration, according to Miller, who said NYPD arrested about 200 of them.

NYPD officials put the number of arrests at 206 but said that number was preliminary.
