NYPD securing key NYC locations following Trump assassination attempt

The city is redeploying police to secure key locations throughout NYC after former President Donald Trump was grazed by gunfire and an audience member killed at a rally in Pennsylvania Saturday, according to Mayor Eric Adams.

“Out of an abundance of caution, the NYPD is surging officers to certain sites across the five boroughs,” Adams announced in a post on X.

Adams condemned the apparent assassination attempt and offered his best wishes to the 2024 Republican presidential candidate and his family.

“The events that unfolded at today’s rally in Pennsylvania are horrific,” the mayor tweeted. “Sending my prayers to former President Trump, his family, and everyone who was at today’s event.”

The mayor did not specify what locations were being secured Saturday evening, but a large NYPD and Secret Service presence was spotted outside Trump Tower in Midtown Manhattan.

Messages left seeking comment from the NYPD were not immediately returned.
