NYPD releases sketch of predator who attempted to rape Central Park sunbather

Cops on Thursday released a sketch of the man who recently tackled a woman sunbathing in Central Park to the ground and attempted to rape her.

The composite depicts a man with a short beard, hat and a blank stare above heavy eye bags. Cops previously described the attacker as a Black man who’s about 6 feet tall.

The creep charged toward a 21-year-old woman tanning alone in the Great Hill section of the park near W. 104th St. and West Drive around 1:25 p.m. Monday and “exposed himself,” NYPD Chief of Patrol John Chell said at a news conference after the attack.

The woman got up, screamed and tried to run off but the man tackled her, according to police.

She fought him off and the man ran southbound down West Drive. The woman was not physically injured during the attack.

The attacker was last seen wearing a light-colored shirt and shorts and is believed to be in his thirties.

After the attack, Chell said that the police department would release a sketch if surveillance video was not immediately available.

Anyone with information on the attacker is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
