Nintendo Switch Lite CONFIRMED: Brand new handheld revealed in surprise announcement


Nintendo Switch Lite has been confirmed by the Japanese gaming giant in a surprise announcement today.

After months of speculation the new Nintendo Switch was detailed in a video posted on the official Nintendo YouTube.

The Nintendo Switch Lite has been described as a “dedicated” handheld console.

As per the rumours, the Nintendo Switch Lite does not feature removeable Joy-Cons and for multi-player games additionally Joy-Cons will have to be purchased.

As it is a dedicated handheld console, the Nintendo Switch Lite will not support outputting to a TV.

Additional Joy-Cons will also need to be purchased to use games that support features such as HD rumble, IR Motion Camera and Joy-Con motion.

The Nintendo Switch Lite was showcased in a number of colours including yellow, turquoise and grey.

The Nintendo Switch Lite has a release date of September 20 2019.

In terms of specs, the Nintendo Switch Lite weighs 20 grams less than the regular Switch and boasts a 5.5inch LCD screen compared to a 6.2 one.

The regular Switch dimensions, with Joy-Cons attached, is 102mm x 239mm x 13.9mm.

Whereas the Switch Lite is 91.1mm x 208mm x 13.9mm.
