Nicole Kidman has granted fans’ wishes by confirming she and Sandra Bullock will indeed return to the “Practical Magical” realm.
The “Big Little Lies” star, 56, confirmed the news to People on Thursday night, just days after news broke that the beloved 1998 film would be getting a sequel.
“Yes I will be in it. And Sandy will be in it,” said Kidman, who played Gillian Owens in the original flick, alongside Bullock’s Sally. “There’s a lot more to tell which is why we go, ‘OK, this is kind of interesting now to be able to do this.”
Earlier this week, reports were circulating that the Oscar winners were in talks to reprise their roles as the witchy sisters, and also taking on producing roles on the film.
Warner Bros. announced “Practical Magic 2” in a TikTok Monday, following a teaser the company dropped over the weekend regarding the film’s availability on digital and streaming on Max.
Oscar-winning “A Beautiful Mind” scribe Akiva Goldsman, who co-wrote the original, will return to write the sequel.
The film, based on Alice Hoffman’s 1995 novel of the same name, centers on the sisters contending with their small-minded small town as well as a curse on the women of their bloodline, whose male partners are doomed to die prematurely.
Despite being critically panned, boasting a mere 24% approval rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, “Practical Magic” has earned a cult following in the years since its release.
News of the sequel comes years after HBO announced in 2019 that it would adapt Hoffman’s 2017 prequel book, “Rules of Magic,” for the small screen.
