NHL fans couldn’t believe a Stanley Cup playoffs feat has been accomplished.
This feat, however, isn’t coveted and has been achieved by historical NHL teams.

The Original Six teams from the United States – the Detroit Red Wings, Boston Bruins, Chicago Blackhawks, and New York Rangers – have a combined 27 Stanley Cup titles.
But they have now made NHL history for all the wrong reasons after Saturday’s results in the league.
For the first time ever, the Red Wings, Bruins, Blackahawks, and Rangers will miss the Stanley Cup Playoffs in the same season.
The milestone was confirmed Saturday when the Rangers were officially eliminated after a 7-3 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes.
The Red Wings were eliminated from postseason contention earlier on Saturday.
The Bruins began the campaign with high hopes and will finish it with the fewest points in the Eastern Conference.
And the rebuilding Blackhawks, who have an excuse for missing the playoffs, were predicted to have a lackluster season.
Nonetheless, fans were surprised that the USA’s Original Six Teams – all who joined the league by 1926- all hit the historic low together.
“This is an absolutely insane statistic,” one wrote.
“What an absolute bizarre season,” another commented.
“Unbelievable stat,” a third said.
The Rangers reached the Eastern Conference Final last year and wished to hoist the Cup for the first time in over 30 years and the fifth time in franchise history.
However, head coach Peter Laviolette’s second season has been underwhelming as the team has been around .500 during the last week of the regular season.
The Red Wings took a step back this season after losing a tiebreaker for the last spot in the Eastern Conference last year.
The team has yet to make a postseason appearance in general manager Steve Yzerman’s five-year tenure.

The Bruins, coming off eight straight postseason appearances, suffered a 10-game losing streak this year.
They fired head coach Jim Montgomery mid-season and never recovered, as they traded former Brad Marchand to the Florida Panthers.
And the Blackhawks have been at the bottom of the Central Division for the third straight year.
They’ve been in a decline since their three Stanley Cup wins between 2010 and 2015.
The regular season for the Red Wings, Bruins, Blackhawks, and Rangers ends on April 17, as the NHL playoffs begin on April 19.
