A KANSAS City Chiefs star who was on their last Super Bowl team has been waived.
The team took the tough decision with fears over the 26-year-old’s NFL future.

Head coach Andy Reid claimed the player’s career is not over “by any means.”
Defensive end BJ Thompson, 26, was waived with an injury designation.
He was selected in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
And his rookie season ended with Super Bowl LVIII glory at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Last June, he suffered a cardiac arrest after having a seizure while in a team meeting.
Thompson was rushed to hospital and placed on the reserve/non-football injury list.
Kansas City is trying to reshape it’s roster in a bid to get back to a fourth straight Super Bowl.
And Reid explained the team’s tough decision with Thompson.
“He is making progress,” Reid said, “but just not quite, not quite there yet.
“But he’s made great, great strides.
“In this day and age of the way football is, we had to do something there.
“This is the route that we went.
“But it doesn’t mean his career is over by any means, just where we’re at today.”
Thompson only played one game in his rookie year for the Chiefs.
That came against the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
Kansas City released five other players last Wednesday.
Tight ends Anthony Firkser and Baylor Cupp were both let go.
Linebacker Shaun Bradley and safety Jason Taylor II were two defensive stars let go.
And offensive guard McKade Mettauer was also waived.
The Chiefs were beaten 40-22 by the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX in February.
