The Chiefs winning machine is often featured in the league’s prime slots.
One of those in 2024 was for the first ever Netflix Christmas Day double-header.
Kansas City took on the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first game as part of the streaming service’s special.
Netflix agreed a three-year deal for Christmas Day broadcasts with the league.
The move was an indication by the NFL that they intend to make football on the holiday an annual tradition.
And The Athletic recently reported that the Chiefs requested to be a regular fixture on December 25.
But NFL vice presicent of broadcast planning and scheduling Mike North indicated that is unlikely to happen.
“Let’s see what the next few years bring,” North said on the It’s Always Gameday in Buffalo podcast.
“But I don’t think we’re today gonna commit to a permanent third host for Thanksgiving, a permanent host for Black Friday, or a permanent host for Christmas.”
Thanksgiving has become one of the biggest days in the NFL calendar.
The Detroit Lions always play a home game on the holiday with the Dallas Cowboys following.
The prime time game on Thanksgiving is rotated around other teams.
Amazon Prime is the home of Thursday Night Football and has also staged a game on Black Friday the past two years.
This year they will also have a game on Christmas after the Netflix doubleheader as it falls on a Thursday.
Speaking about Christmas, North said, “I’m not sure that’s gonna become a tradition quite the way Thanksgiving is.
