The Australian live-streamed the slaughter on Facboook and identifed himself on Twitter after executing Muslims, including children, during Friday prayers at a Christchurch mosque. Tarrant, 28, and another gunman targeted two mosques during the bloodbath with twenty people injured. Three men and a woman have been arrested.

During the slaughter, 41 people died at the Masjid Al Noor Mosque and a further seven were killed at the Linwood Masjid Mosque.

A 49th victim died after being rushed to hospital.

Far-right extremist Tarrant published a chilling 28-page manifesto before carrying out the massacre.

The white supremacist revealed he was inspired by Norwegian mass murderer Anders Breivik, who shot dead 69 people in 2011.

This is a breaking story. More to follow.
