Grocery technology firm Instacart has previously worked on smart fridges as well as New York Times Cooking.
They are now venturing out into e-commerce to give consumers the opportunity to host and attend dinner parties with ease.
Instacart said their new app Fizz aims to allow groups of people to prepare for upcoming events.
Fizz will also come with discounts and certain perks.
For example, every new user will get $5 worth of Snack Bucks – which can be used to redeem discounts on snacks.
When users buy drinks they can also earn Snack Bucks.
Fizz does not require a membership to use, according to Instacart.
In terms of the new groundbreaking feature – users can now use a helpful payment splitting system to make going out in groups easier.
One user should start a “party chat” on Fizz’s app or website, and then share the link with others so they can add items and view what is inside the cart.
On Partiful, the app allows hosts to turn on the group ordering feature and automatically link to a Fizz cart for the event page.
Only those over 21 can order alcohol and must prove their age in the app.
The host can then choose when to place the order.
They are also charged a flat $5 for delivery, and can choose between scheduled or ASAP delivery.
After the order is placed, party members are charged for only the items they added.
Each participant in the group cart must reach a $10 minimum order.
Fizz will make life easier when ordering things like beer, seltzer, chips, dip and party supplies, Instacart noted in their announcement.
The party supplies category includes things like games, decor, gift supplies and table-setting items.
Instacart also said that it might explore adding more categories to Fizz based on future user demands.
