Nets forward Bojan Bogdanović will not be available when the team opens training camp next week, head coach Jordi Fernandez told reporters on Thursday.
Bogdanović was officially acquired by Brooklyn in July as part of a deal that sent former star forward Mikal Bridges to the Knicks. The 35-year-old was acquired by the Knicks at last season’s trade deadline. He made 29 regular-season appearances for New York, primarily in a reserve role, and averaged 10.4 points per game while shooting 43% from the field and 37% from 3-point range.
Bogdanović underwent season-ending surgery to repair a foot and wrist injuries during the Knicks’ playoff run in April. He scored 13 points in the Knicks’ Game 1 defeat of the Philadelphia 76ers and the team was plus-27 while he was on the court.
According to reports, Bogdanovic was recently cleared to play in an exhibition game in honor of the late Drazen Petrovic on Sept. 5 in Zagreb, Croatia.
A buyout between Bogdanovic and Brooklyn has been rumored, but the team has yet to reveal plans to do so. His $19 million salary for the 2024-25 season is fully guaranteed.
