NCIS season 17, episode 5 promo: What will happen in Wide Awake?

NCIS is now in the middle of airing its 17th season on CBS and fans are more hooked than ever. With the mysterious and brief return of Ziva (played by Cote de Pablo) and concerns still surrounding agent Gibbs (Mark Harmon)’s hallucinations, there is a lot of questions to be answered. But what will happen in episode five?

What will happen in NCIS, episode five, Wide Awake?

At the end of the previous episode Someone Else’s Shoes, a promo was shown giving clues on what is going to happen in the next show.

Entitled Wide Awake, the promo starts off with a gun being taken out of a fridge by Gibbs.

The clip then moves onto Gibbs and Sloane (Maria Bello) interviewing a scared looking young woman.

Sloane turns to the woman and says: “Your fingerprints were on the murder weapon.”

She replies: “I thought I slept through the night.”

NCIS Director Leon Vance (Rocky Carroll) asks the team: “Do you believe in mind control murder?”

Ellie (Emily Wickersham) responds with the question: “Hypnotised to kill?”

Sloane is insistent she needs “to see what a hypnotist can and cannot do,” in order to crack the case.

Scenes are then shown of a woman lying on a bed, followed by armed agents in a house, startled as they hear a woman screaming.

At the end of the promo, Sloane labels it “the perfect murder”.

The scared woman in the series of clips is actress Camryn Grimes who played Mariah Copeland in The Young and the Restless.

She had also previously starred in NCIS: Los Angeles in 2010.

Her character in the next episode of NCIS is marine corporal Laney Alimonte.

In an interview with TV Insider regarding her latest role, she describes how much the two characters differ.

She said: “Marine Corporal Laney Alimonte is struggling in more ways than one.

“Her struggle is brought to life during the episode as more is revealed.

“Your heart breaks for her as mine did. At this point, Mariah is put-together and has her wits about her, unlike Laney, whose whole world is falling apart.”

A UK release date for the show has yet to be announced.

NCIS continues on CBS every Tuesday.
