A New Jersey woman suffered brain bleed and had several teeth knocked out in a brutal, random attack over the weekend.
The 61-year-old victim,, who was not publicly identified, was walking to work around 6:30 a.m. Saturday morning when she was attacked, Englewood police said.
She was rushed to Hackensack Hospital with brain bleed, a broken jaw, a broken finger, cuts on the back of her head, lost teeth and extensive facial bruising.
Kemarley McIntosh, 31, was deemed a suspect based on surveillance video that captured the assault. He was detained with cuts on his hands, knees, and feet. Police said he is an unhoused person who used to reside in the city.
McIntosh was treated for his injuries at Englewood Hospital before being transferred to New Bridge Medical Center for a psychological evaluation.
Police said he was cleared and confessed to the assault. No motive was released, but police said the victim and suspect did not know each other before the incident.
He is being held in Bergen County Jail after being charged with second-degree aggravated assault, third-degree possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes and third-degree endangering an injured victim.
The incident occurred roughly three months after a woman was stabbed outside CNBC headquarters in Englewood.
