They have proclaimed May 8 to be Cam Jordan Day.
The move comes as a way for them to pay tribute to the 35-year-old for his contributions to the team and city on and off the field.
A video shared on Jordan’s social media page narrated by Mark Ingram II, details his incredible dedication to be in and around the community during all of his off days.
Joined by his wife and children, Jordan received the honor at City Hall on Thursday.
It came with a special performance from Edna Karr High School band and a special plaque presentation.
In a speech in the council chambers, Jordan gave a heartfelt speech thanking them for the award.
He said: “My cup has been overflowed.
“Being drafted has been an amazing feeling.
“Having a dad that played in the league has been an amazing feeling.
“Being able to find my wife in the streets of New Orleans has been amazing.
“Us having our little magnolias, what I call them, my little magnolia monsters, all four of our children has been nothing short of an amazing blessing.”
He extended his gratitude to his family and Saints owner Gayle Benson and the organization as a whole for supporting his efforts.
Jordan added: “I hope I’m in New Orleans for another thousand years.
“I love this community.”
He was drafted by the Saints in 2011 and has gone on to become a leader on the field and in the surrounding community.
Jordan has previously appeared on Fox NFL Sunday in a hint of what he might do when he eventually retires.
However, that will not be in 2025 as he gears up to play in his 15th season with the Saints after agreeing to a reworked deal.
He is an 8x Pro Bowl star and was named in the 2010s All-decade team.
Jordan has 716 tackles across his career and was given the Bart Starr Award earlier this year.
